Prime Minister Narendra Modi successfully concluded his official visit to Italy, marking the final leg of his five-nation diplomatic tour across West Asia and Europe. The visit underscored India’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges with Italy.
During his engagements in Rome, Modi held talks with Italian leaders on expanding collaboration in investment, defence, clean energy, and advanced technology. Both sides reaffirmed their shared vision of innovation-led growth and sustainable development, while also agreeing to celebrate 2027 as the ‘Year of Culture and Tourism’ to deepen dialogue between the two ancient civilisations.
Modi’s Italy visit capped a six-day tour that included stops in the United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Sweden, and Norway. The multi-nation journey was aimed at securing energy supplies, boosting trade, advancing technological cooperation, and reinforcing India’s diplomatic footprint in Europe amid global economic and security challenges.
Officials noted that the Italy leg of the tour highlighted India’s push for diversified partnerships in Europe, with a focus on clean energy transition, defence collaboration, and cultural diplomacy. The visit also emphasized India’s role as a bridge between Asia and Europe in shaping a resilient and cooperative global order.
