Cairo, November 1, 2025 — Egypt has officially inaugurated the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), now recognized as the world’s largest museum devoted to a single civilization. Located near the iconic Giza Pyramids, the museum showcases over 50,000 artifacts chronicling the life and legacy of ancient Egypt.
The opening ceremony was attended by global dignitaries, including monarchs, heads of state, and government officials. The Egyptian presidency described the event as “an exceptional moment in the history of human culture and civilization.”
The museum features a striking triangular glass façade inspired by the pyramids and includes two dedicated halls for the complete collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures. The project, two decades in the making, is part of President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi’s broader initiative to boost tourism and revitalize the national economy.
President el-Sissi emphasized that the museum symbolizes the fusion of ancient Egyptian genius with modern creativity. He expressed hope that GEM would become a global hub for cultural exchange and historical education.
Officials expect the museum to attract millions of visitors annually, offering immersive experiences that highlight Egypt’s rich archaeological heritage and its contributions to world history.
