New Delhi, November 1, 2025 — The Government of India has launched a fast-track GST registration system for small and low-risk businesses, enabling automatic approval within three working days starting November 1.
The initiative, part of the GST 2.0 reforms approved by the GST Council, aims to simplify compliance and reduce delays for new applicants. Businesses with a monthly output tax liability below ₹2.5 lakh—including CGST, SGST/UTGST, and IGST—can opt into the scheme voluntarily.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the rollout during the inauguration of the new CGST Bhawan in Ghaziabad, emphasizing that the system will use data analytics and Aadhaar-PAN integration to identify low-risk applicants.
Officials stated that nearly 96% of new GST applicants are expected to benefit from the auto-approval mechanism, which minimizes human intervention and enhances transparency.
The scheme also allows businesses to opt out at any time, offering flexibility while maintaining regulatory oversight. A dedicated help desk has been set up to assist applicants during the transition.
Experts believe the reform will significantly reduce the compliance burden for small enterprises and encourage formalization of the economy.
