Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that all efforts should be made to safeguard citizens from the impact of the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Chairing a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), he directed officials to ensure uninterrupted supplies of food, fuel, energy, and fertilisers to protect the people from disruptions.
The CCS reviewed India’s preparedness across petroleum, crude oil, natural gas, power, and fertiliser sectors, discussing short, medium, and long-term measures to secure essential commodities. Special focus was placed on fertiliser availability for the upcoming kharif season to prevent any adverse impact on farmers.
The Prime Minister’s statement comes amid rising concerns over the Iran–Israel conflict and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has disrupted global energy and commodity supplies. India, heavily dependent on Gulf imports, faces risks in fuel, fertiliser, and food security.
Officials highlighted diversification of import sources, strengthening of domestic reserves, and daily monitoring of supply chains as part of the government’s response. The Prime Minister reassured citizens that the government is committed to shielding them from the fallout of the conflict.
With global uncertainty continuing, India’s proactive measures aim to reinforce economic security, stabilise essential supplies, and maintain public confidence during this challenging period.
