Thousands of devotees began their trek to the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir on the first day of Chaitra Navratri, braving harsh weather conditions in the Trikuta Hills.
Despite intermittent rainfall and cold winds, pilgrims expressed unwavering faith as they undertook the uphill journey to seek blessings from the revered shrine. The spiritual atmosphere was marked by chants of ‘Jai Mata Di’ echoing along the route.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board reported that special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth movement of devotees, including medical aid stations, shelter facilities, and enhanced security deployment along the track.
Officials highlighted that the pilgrimage during Chaitra Navratri holds immense religious significance, drawing devotees from across India. The festival marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year in several regions and is celebrated with devotion and fasting.
Local authorities have also advised pilgrims to remain cautious due to slippery paths and unpredictable weather, while assuring that all necessary measures are in place to safeguard the yatris.
