China’s Ministry of National Defense announced that the People’s Liberation Army Air Force carried out a long-range bomber patrol over the South China Sea on November 16, 2025. The operation was described as a countermeasure to recent joint maritime exercises conducted by the Philippines, the United States, and Japan in the region.
According to Chinese officials, the patrol demonstrated the country’s ability to safeguard national sovereignty and security interests amid what Beijing views as provocative military activity near its waters.
