Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Monday accused Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of wasting the Budget Session of Parliament by repeatedly raising a single issue, instead of allowing meaningful discussion on important national matters.
Addressing the media, Paswan said the Budget Session is meant for detailed deliberation on financial proposals, development priorities and policies that impact the country’s growth, but valuable time was being lost due to continuous disruptions.
He alleged that the opposition, under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, was deliberately stalling proceedings and preventing constructive debate on the Union Budget and other legislative business.
“Parliament is a sacred forum for discussion and decision-making. Unfortunately, instead of engaging in healthy debate on the Budget, the opposition is focused on creating noise over one issue, which is a disservice to the people,” Paswan said.
The Union Minister maintained that the government is ready to discuss all issues within the rules of the House, but insisted that repeated disruptions undermine parliamentary democracy.
His remarks come amid continued protests and disruptions in both Houses of Parliament during the ongoing Budget Session, with the opposition pressing its demands and the government urging members to allow smooth functioning of the legislature.
