The Civil Aviation Ministry has sought a detailed report from Air India regarding the technical issue that forced a Mumbai-bound Boeing 777 to return to Delhi shortly after take-off. Officials said the ministry has asked the airline to explain the nature of the snag, the precautionary measures taken, and the steps being implemented to prevent recurrence.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when the crew detected a fault in the aircraft’s monitoring system and decided to return to Indira Gandhi International Airport as a safety measure. The flight landed safely, and all passengers were deboarded without incident.
Air India engineers have begun inspecting the aircraft to identify and rectify the problem. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also been informed and is expected to review the airline’s report once submitted.
Officials emphasized that passenger safety remains the top priority and assured that strict compliance with aviation safety protocols will be maintained. The ministry reiterated its commitment to ensuring operational reliability across all carriers.
The incident caused minor delays in scheduling, but authorities confirmed that alternative arrangements were made for affected passengers.
