Srinagar, Nov 26: The cold wave has intensified across Jammu and Kashmir, with Srinagar recording the season’s coldest night at –3.9°C. The sharp dip in temperature has led to severe cold conditions, affecting daily life in the Valley.
Officials from the Meteorological Department said the minimum temperature in Srinagar fell well below normal, marking the coldest night of the season so far. Other parts of the Valley also experienced sub-zero temperatures, with frost forming on roads and rooftops.
The cold wave has tightened its grip, forcing residents to rely heavily on traditional heating methods. Water supply lines in several areas froze overnight, while morning fog and icy winds added to the discomfort.
Authorities have advised people to take precautions against the cold, particularly vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly. The weather department has forecast that the cold conditions are likely to persist, with further drop in temperatures expected in the coming days.
