Dense fog enveloped Delhi and the National Capital Region today, severely disrupting flight and train operations. Low visibility conditions led to delays and diversions at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, while several trains were reported running behind schedule across the region.
Airport officials stated that multiple domestic and international flights faced delays, with some diverted to nearby airports due to poor visibility. Passengers were advised to check updated schedules before heading to the airport.
Railway authorities confirmed that dozens of trains arriving and departing from Delhi stations were running late, with delays ranging from one to five hours. The Northern Railway control room reported that fog-related disruptions are expected to continue until visibility improves.
Traffic movement on major highways in Delhi-NCR also slowed down as dense fog reduced visibility to less than 50 metres in several stretches. Police advised motorists to exercise caution and use fog lights while driving.
The Meteorological Department has forecast that foggy conditions will persist in the coming days, particularly during early morning and late evening hours. Officials noted that the cold wave combined with dense fog is likely to impact daily life and transport services across the region.
