Indian educator and PhysicsWallah founder Alakh Pandey has made his debut on the Forbes World’s Billionaires List 2026, with a net worth crossing $1 billion. His entry marks a significant milestone for India’s growing edtech sector.
Pandey, who began his journey by teaching physics on YouTube in 2014, built a massive following through free and accessible lessons. He later co-founded PhysicsWallah in 2020 with Prateek Boob, expanding the platform into a full-fledged edtech company.
The company’s successful IPO in November 2025, which listed at a premium, propelled Pandey’s wealth and secured his place among the world’s billionaires. PhysicsWallah now offers courses beyond physics, including AI, data analytics, software development, and banking.
At just 33, Pandey is among the youngest billionaires globally and one of 229 Indians featured on the Forbes list this year, the highest number ever recorded for the country.
His rise underscores the potential of affordable, tech-driven education in India and highlights how digital innovation can transform the lives of educators and students alike.
