Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has assured that Dabolim International Airport in Goa will continue to remain fully operational for civilian traffic. His statement comes amid concerns regarding the future of the airport following the commissioning of the new Mopa International Airport.
Singh emphasized that Dabolim Airport, which operates as a civil enclave within a naval air station, will not face any restrictions on civilian operations. He underlined that the government is committed to ensuring seamless air connectivity for Goa and safeguarding the interests of passengers and airlines.
The Defence Minister highlighted that both Dabolim and Mopa airports will function in a complementary manner, enhancing Goa’s aviation infrastructure and supporting tourism, trade, and regional development. He reiterated that the dual-airport model will strengthen Goa’s position as a premier destination for domestic and international travelers.
Officials noted that necessary coordination between civil aviation and defence authorities will continue to ensure smooth operations at Dabolim, while Mopa Airport expands capacity to meet future demand. The assurance is expected to ease concerns among stakeholders about potential limitations on Goa’s oldest airport.
