The Shri Amarnathji Yatra will remain suspended on July 19, 2026, due to an adverse weather forecast across Jammu & Kashmir.
Authorities have announced that no pilgrim movement will be allowed from the Pahalgam and Baltal base camps until further notice, prioritizing safety amid predictions of heavy rainfall, thundershowers, and possible landslides.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, confirmed that the suspension is a precautionary measure, with daily reviews to determine when the Yatra can resume.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rain from July 19–23, raising risks of flash floods, mudslides, and disruptions along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and other key routes.
Since its commencement on July 3, 2026, over 3.7 lakh devotees have undertaken the pilgrimage to the Holy Cave Shrine at 3,880 metres. The Yatra was scheduled to conclude on August 28, 2026.
