New Delhi, November 5, 2025 — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory predicting light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy showers across parts of South India, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Puducherry, and Karaikal, through November 8.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected at isolated locations, prompting local authorities to remain on alert. The rainfall is attributed to a well-marked low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal regions.
Meanwhile, North and Central India are likely to experience a dip in minimum temperatures by 3–5°C over the next three days, signaling the onset of early winter conditions. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of around 23°C today, with further cooling expected due to a western disturbance.
Despite the temperature drop, Delhi’s air quality remains a concern. The Central Pollution Control Board reported an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 202 at 4 PM, placing the capital in the ‘poor’ category. Several areas in Delhi-NCR, including Wazirpur and Jahangirpuri, breached the 400 mark earlier this week, entering the ‘severe’ zone.
The IMD has suggested that light rain or drizzle may occur in Delhi around November 4–5, which could offer temporary relief from pollution levels. Citizens are advised to monitor local forecasts and take necessary precautions, especially those with respiratory conditions.
