New Delhi, July 20: Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi on Monday said hydrogen is playing a pivotal role in India’s transition towards a sustainable and clean transport future, highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting green hydrogen as a key pillar of the country’s energy transformation.
Addressing an event, the minister said the adoption of hydrogen-based technologies will help reduce dependence on fossil fuels, lower carbon emissions, and strengthen India’s energy security. He noted that green hydrogen has the potential to revolutionize sectors such as transportation, industry, and power generation.
Pralhad Joshi said the National Green Hydrogen Mission is aimed at making India a global hub for the production, utilization, and export of green hydrogen. He added that the initiative will encourage innovation, attract investments, generate employment opportunities, and support the country’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions.
The Union Minister emphasized that hydrogen-powered mobility, including fuel-cell vehicles and hydrogen-based public transport, will play a significant role in building a cleaner and more sustainable transportation ecosystem. He said the government is working closely with industry stakeholders, research institutions, and startups to accelerate the development and deployment of hydrogen technologies.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to clean energy, Joshi said India is steadily moving towards a low-carbon economy through investments in renewable energy, green hydrogen, and sustainable infrastructure, paving the way for an environmentally responsible and energy-secure future.
