Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen has advanced to the men’s singles second round at the BWF World Championships in New Delhi after defeating Austria’s Collins Valentine Filimon in a hard-fought opening match.
Sen lost the first game 16-21 but bounced back strongly in the next two games, winning them 21-8 and 21-4. He controlled the rallies and put his opponent under pressure to complete the comeback in 45 minutes.
With the victory, Sen has moved into the Round of 32, where he will face USA’s Garret Tan. Tan secured his place in the second round after beating Switzerland’s Tobias Kuenzi.
The win keeps Sen’s campaign going at the World Championships in New Delhi, with the Indian shuttler now looking to build on his strong second and third games in the next round.
