Bhubaneswar, October 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday warned that countries could be weakened through attacks on their economies and stressed the need to safeguard India’s banking system against cybercriminals and cyber terrorists.
Speaking after inaugurating the Reserve Bank of India’s data centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute in Bhubaneswar, Modi said modern conflicts extended beyond conventional military warfare. As India’s economy grows, protecting its financial infrastructure has become increasingly necessary, he said.
The Prime Minister said evolving cyber threats required modern infrastructure, advanced technology and skilled personnel. Outdated tools and training methods would be insufficient to meet these challenges, he added.
The new facilities, developed at a cost of ₹169 crore, are intended to strengthen the RBI’s technological capabilities and improve preparedness against digital threats to the financial sector.
