New Delhi, October 25: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday condemned the use of terrorism to advance state objectives, saying it could never be justified or rationalised.
Speaking at an event marking the 75th anniversary of Chinmaya Mission in New Delhi, he said terrorism remained a threat because some countries failed to demonstrate zero tolerance. Without naming any nation, he criticised governments that allowed political considerations to outweigh the lessons of history.
Jaishankar called for a stronger international response, urging countries to recognise terrorism as a shared danger and work together to combat it in every form.
Turning to the conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia, he said their consequences reached far beyond the countries directly involved. People and economies with little influence over those conflicts were also bearing the costs. He reiterated India’s support for dialogue and diplomacy and its willingness to work with partners towards peace.
The minister also urged the United Nations to take a more active role in addressing global crises. He said the need to reform international institutions was becoming increasingly pressing and called on the UN to provide leadership.
