Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi has described Operation Sindoor as a defining case study in India’s military evolution, marking a decisive step towards domain jointness. He emphasized that the operation showcased integration across land, air, maritime, cyber, space, and cognitive domains, moving beyond parallel operations to dynamic interaction where no single domain dictates outcomes.
Operation Sindoor was conducted in May 2025 as a military response targeting terror launchpads in Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 Indian tourists. The coordinated strikes demonstrated India’s ability to conduct synchronized actions across multiple domains, sending a strong strategic message about its evolving military doctrine.
General Dwivedi highlighted that the lessons from Operation Sindoor have already led to institutional changes, including the creation of an information warfare organisation and a psychological defence division to counter adversarial narratives. He stressed that future conflicts will demand seamless multi-domain coordination, integration, and fusion, ensuring synchronized operations across physical and digital battlefields.
