Union Minister Piyush Goyal has welcomed the recently signed India‑US trade deal, stating that the agreement will safeguard India’s sensitive sectors, particularly agriculture and dairy. Speaking at a press briefing, he emphasised that the pact is expected to boost bilateral trade while protecting domestic farmers and producers from unfair competition.
Goyal highlighted that the deal incorporates measures to ensure that critical sectors continue to receive adequate support and safeguards, enabling India to maintain food security and strengthen its agricultural exports. He also noted that the agreement reflects a balanced approach, fostering trade growth without compromising domestic interests.
The minister further stated that India’s continued engagement with the United States on trade matters will open new opportunities for Indian industries and enhance collaboration in technology, manufacturing, and other key sectors, while remaining mindful of the needs of sensitive industries.
