Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said that the restoration of statehood is a prerequisite for any meaningful effort to restore the region’s special constitutional status. Addressing party workers and supporters, he emphasized that the fight for statehood remains the foremost priority for the National Conference.
Omar Abdullah stated that statehood would restore the democratic rights of the people, strengthen governance, and enable an elected government to function with greater authority and accountability. He asserted that only after the restoration of statehood can the demand for the return of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status be effectively pursued through constitutional and democratic means.
Reaffirming his party’s commitment, the Chief Minister said the National Conference will continue to raise the issue at every appropriate platform and work towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the party remains steadfast in its resolve to seek justice within the framework of the Constitution.
Omar Abdullah also called upon the people to remain united and support peaceful, democratic efforts aimed at safeguarding the rights and interests of Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed confidence that continued public support would strengthen the demand for the restoration of statehood and the region’s constitutional rights.
