The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has initiated preparations to ensure the safe return of Indian nationals stranded in Iran as the security situation in the country continues to evolve. Officials confirmed that the government is closely monitoring developments and coordinating with the Indian Embassy in Tehran to provide necessary assistance.
MEA sources stated that contingency measures are being put in place to support students, pilgrims, and other residents, particularly those from Jammu & Kashmir, who have expressed concern over their safety. The Embassy has already issued advisories urging Indian nationals to leave Iran at the earliest.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has assured that the government is committed to safeguarding the lives of Indian citizens abroad and is working on evacuation arrangements in consultation with local authorities and airlines. He emphasized that the safety and well-being of nationals remain the top priority.
Officials added that communication channels have been strengthened to keep families informed, while helplines have been activated to assist those seeking immediate support. The MEA is expected to announce further details on evacuation plans as the situation develops.
