The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Sabarimala Gold Case has begun questioning the temple’s head priest, Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru, over allegations of misappropriation of gold during temple works.
Officials stated that the interrogation was initiated after inconsistencies were found in records and witness statements related to the gold-plating works at the shrine. The SIT emphasized that custodial questioning was necessary to clarify the discrepancies.
The case involves allegations that gold sheets and ornaments used in temple renovations were misappropriated, prompting the SIT to register multiple FIRs and expand its probe. The Enforcement Directorate has also filed a money laundering case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The questioning of the head priest marks a significant development in the investigation, which is being monitored by the Kerala High Court to ensure transparency and accountability in temple administration.
