New Delhi, November 7, 2025 — The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against former Punjab Director General of Police Mohammad Mustafa and his wife, former minister Razia Sultana, in connection with the alleged murder of their son, Aqil Akhter.
Akhter, aged 35, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at the family’s residence in Panchkula, Haryana, on October 16. The case was initially handled by local police before being transferred to the CBI following a directive from the Haryana government and the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
The FIR, filed under sections 103(1) and 61 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, also names other family members, including Akhter’s wife and sister. The investigation was prompted by a video posted earlier this year in which Akhter accused his family of conspiracy and personal misconduct.
CBI officials have begun examining digital evidence, including social media activity and call records, alongside forensic and post-mortem reports. The case has drawn significant public attention due to its high-profile nature and the allegations of internal family discord.
