President Droupadi Murmu has said that India’s growth requires both the spirit of competition and the spirit of co-operation. She was addressing the valedictory ceremony of the diamond jubilee celebrations of Bharat Scouts and Guides at its 19th National Jamboree in Lucknow.
The President observed that while competition motivates individuals to strive harder and strengthens team spirit, co-operation ensures inclusivity, harmony, and collective progress. She stressed that both values must go hand in hand to build a resilient and united nation.
Murmu highlighted that India is at a crucial stage in its development journey, with the goal of achieving a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. She urged the youth, who form nearly 65 per cent of the population, to harness their skills and contribute actively to nation-building.
Praising the Bharat Scouts and Guides for guiding young people and inspiring them to become active participants in national development, the President reminded the gathering of the Scouts and Guides’ motto “Be Prepared.” She said that youth must develop the capacity to face future challenges with determination and self-confidence.
She concluded that the combination of competition and co-operation will help India achieve its aspirations, strengthen social harmony, and build a nation ready to meet future challenges.
