Ukrainian forces have withdrawn from the eastern town of Siversk in Donetsk after weeks of heavy fighting, officials confirmed. The decision was taken to preserve the lives of soldiers and maintain unit combat capability amid sustained Russian pressure.
The General Staff of Ukraine stated that Russian troops had a significant advantage in manpower and equipment, launching constant small-unit assaults in difficult winter conditions. Despite inflicting heavy losses on Russian forces, Ukrainian defenders were ordered to pull back to more secure positions.
