New Delhi, December 25, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the tragic bus-lorry accident in Chitradurga district of Karnataka. The collision, which occurred on the Bengaluru-Pune National Highway near Hiriyur, claimed several lives and left many others injured.
In his message, the Prime Minister conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery for those injured. He described the incident as “heart-rending” and assured that all possible assistance would be extended to the victims and their families.
Authorities reported that the accident involved a passenger bus and a heavy lorry, resulting in severe damage and casualties. Rescue teams and local police rushed to the site to carry out relief operations and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.
The Karnataka government has directed officials to provide immediate medical care and support to the affected families. Senior leaders have also expressed solidarity with the victims, emphasizing the importance of enhanced road safety measures on national highways.
The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that ex-gratia relief has been announced: Rs. 2 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 for each injured person, from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
