The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the Jammu division for five days starting today, August 12, 2026.
The alert warns of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across districts including Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch, and Chenab Valley.
Authorities have cautioned residents about possible landslides, shooting stones, flash floods, and travel disruptions in vulnerable areas, especially along highways and river belts.
Temperatures are expected to remain between 31–35°C, with humid conditions adding to the discomfort. Local administrations have advised people to stay alert and avoid unnecessary travel during the alert period.
Rescue teams and district authorities are on standby to respond to emergencies, while advisories urge residents to follow IMD updates closely.
