Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, stated that India has undergone a profound transformation in its healthcare landscape over the past 11 years. She emphasized that the government’s sustained efforts have significantly strengthened healthcare delivery systems, expanded infrastructure, and improved access to medical services across the country.
Highlighting key achievements, the minister noted the expansion of health insurance coverage under Ayushman Bharat, the establishment of new medical colleges and AIIMS institutions, and the scaling up of digital health initiatives. She added that these measures have enhanced affordability and accessibility, particularly for rural and underserved populations.
Patel underlined that the government’s focus on preventive and promotive healthcare has led to improved outcomes in maternal and child health, vaccination coverage, and disease control programs. She also pointed to the increased availability of essential medicines and diagnostics as part of the broader reforms.
The minister remarked that India’s healthcare transformation reflects a commitment to building a resilient system capable of addressing both traditional challenges and emerging health threats. She stressed that continued investment in innovation, technology, and human resources will be critical to sustaining this momentum.
Officials concluded that the past decade has positioned India on a stronger trajectory toward universal health coverage, with reforms aimed at ensuring equitable and quality healthcare for all citizens.
