The Ministry of Civil Aviation has confirmed that the Black Box of the Bombardier Learjet 45 aircraft, which crashed near the Baramati airstrip on January 28, 2026, has been recovered. The crash claimed the lives of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others.
Officials stated that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has launched a time-bound probe into the incident. The Black Box, which contains the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder, will be analyzed to determine the sequence of events leading to the accident.
The Civil Aviation Ministry emphasized that ensuring a thorough, transparent, and expeditious investigation remains a top priority. All technical records, operational details, and evidence from the crash site are being examined.
Teams from the AAIB in Delhi and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Mumbai Regional Office reached the site immediately after the crash to secure evidence and begin the inquiry.
The government assured that findings from the investigation will be made public and corrective measures, if required, will be implemented to strengthen aviation safety standards.
The tragic crash has drawn widespread attention, with leaders across the political spectrum expressing condolences and urging a swift probe to establish accountability and prevent future incidents.
