New Delhi, Jun 24: BRICS nations have jointly called for stronger cooperation to address the widening range of global security challenges, including terrorism, cyber threats, and risks to critical infrastructure. The appeal was made during high-level deliberations under India’s chairmanship, reflecting a shared commitment to collective resilience.
Officials emphasized that the grouping must intensify collaboration in emerging domains such as digital security, space cooperation, and safeguarding multilateralism. The discussions highlighted the need for coordinated responses to transnational threats that increasingly cut across borders and sectors.
BRICS leaders underscored that terrorism remains a grave challenge to global peace, while cyber threats pose growing risks to economies and societies. Enhanced intelligence sharing, capacity building, and joint frameworks were identified as priority areas.
The call for deeper cooperation comes ahead of the annual BRICS Summit, where outcomes from the security track are expected to feed into broader strategies for peace, stability, and sustainable development across the Global South.
