New Delhi, Feb 27: In a bid to boost tourism in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday launched the city’s first electric double-decker tourist bus service under the initiative ‘Dekho Meri Dilli’. The service is designed to provide visitors with a structured tour of Delhi’s heritage sites and modern landmarks.
The 63-seater bus, flagged off from Rafi Marg, was unveiled jointly by the Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra. Equipped with modern amenities, advanced safety features, and a panoramic upper deck, the bus promises passengers an immersive view of the city’s attractions. Following the launch, Gupta and Mishra, along with senior officials and mediapersons, rode the bus to the Prime Ministers’ Museum via India Gate, Akbar Road, and Teen Murti Marg.
Operated under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with the Hinduja Group, the fully electric bus is part of Delhi Tourism’s push towards sustainable and green mobility. Officials confirmed that the service will run daily from Delhi Haat-INA at 9 a.m., with tickets available online through the Delhi Tourism website.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Gupta said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to modern, eco-friendly development and aims to strengthen Delhi’s position as a premier tourist destination. She emphasized that the service will allow visitors to experience the capital’s rich heritage and contemporary landmarks in a single journey.
