IndiGo Airlines has issued a travel advisory for passengers flying to and from Delhi, warning of possible disruptions due to expected rainfall and thunderstorms in the region. The advisory comes as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed the capital under a yellow alert until March 20, 2026.
The airline cautioned that adverse weather conditions may lead to flight delays, diversions, and longer travel times to the airport. IndiGo has urged passengers to check their flight status regularly through its mobile app, website, or airport information displays.
According to IMD forecasts, Delhi is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h. These conditions are expected to affect both arrivals and departures at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
IndiGo advised travelers to plan ahead, arrive early at the airport, and carry essentials such as water, snacks, and power banks to manage extended waiting times. The airline also highlighted that connecting flights may face rescheduling or longer layovers due to cascading delays.
Other carriers, including SpiceJet, have also issued similar advisories, while Air India has not released a formal statement but is expected to face operational challenges under the IMD alert. Traffic congestion around Delhi Airport is anticipated, adding to passenger inconvenience.
For passengers from Jammu and other regional hubs, the advisory is particularly significant as flights connecting to Delhi may also face knock-on delays. Travelers are encouraged to stay updated with official airline communications and weather alerts before heading to the airport.
