External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington as part of ongoing high-level discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between India and the United States. The meeting took place ahead of the Critical Minerals Ministerial and covered a wide range of strategic, economic and global issues of mutual interest.
During their talks, both leaders discussed cooperation on critical minerals, which are key to supply chains for technologies such as renewable energy, electric vehicles and advanced electronics. They also reviewed progress on defence and security cooperation, trade and investment partnerships, and regional developments impacting Indo-Pacific stability.
Jaishankar and Rubio reaffirmed commitments to deepening the India-US strategic partnership, stressing the importance of continued collaboration on international challenges including climate change, counter-terrorism and emerging technologies. The meeting underscored shared democratic values and a mutual interest in promoting peace, security and prosperity in the region and beyond.
Both sides agreed to maintain regular dialogue at ministerial and official levels to ensure momentum in the bilateral relationship, and officials indicated that further engagements and joint initiatives are expected in the coming months.
