The Election Commission of India (ECI) has published the draft Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral roll for Uttar Pradesh today, January 6, 2026. The exercise is part of a nationwide effort to update and streamline voter lists ahead of upcoming elections.
Citizens can now check their names in the draft roll through online portals and local electoral offices. The claims and objections window will remain open until February 6, 2026, allowing voters to request corrections, deletions, or inclusions as required.
Officials stated that decisions on claims and objections will be finalized by February 27, 2026, with the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on March 6, 2026. The process is expected to address legacy data issues, including duplicate entries and outdated records.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, Navdeep Rinwa, emphasized that the revision is aimed at ensuring accuracy, transparency, and inclusiveness in the electoral process. Citizens are urged to verify their details promptly to avoid discrepancies in the final roll.
The draft roll marks a significant step in strengthening electoral integrity, with Uttar Pradesh expected to see one of the largest revisions in the country.
