The Election Commission of India has distributed more than 37 crore enumeration forms across 12 States and Union Territories as part of Phase II of its Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. This large-scale exercise is aimed at ensuring that every eligible voter is included in the rolls ahead of upcoming elections.
According to officials, nearly 73% of electors have already received their forms, with several regions reporting near-total coverage. Lakshadweep has achieved 100% distribution, while Goa and West Bengal have also recorded impressive progress. Uttar Pradesh alone accounts for over 10 crore forms handed out, reflecting the scale of the operation in India’s most populous state.
The enumeration drive, which began on November 4, will continue until December 4, 2025. Draft electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on December 9, giving citizens the opportunity to verify their details, make corrections, or register afresh. The Commission emphasized that this initiative is central to strengthening transparency and inclusivity in the democratic process.
By reaching households across the country, the Election Commission is reinforcing its commitment to ensuring that every eligible citizen has a voice in shaping India’s future. The distribution of forms marks a crucial step in building accurate and reliable voter lists, which form the backbone of free and fair elections.
