Eurobank has launched a UPI-based remittance service enabling seamless cross-border transfers from Greece to India, marking a significant step in strengthening financial connectivity between the two nations.
The service allows Indian diaspora and businesses in Greece to send money directly to India using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), ensuring faster, cheaper, and more transparent transactions compared to traditional remittance channels.
Officials highlighted that the initiative will benefit thousands of Indian workers and students in Greece, offering them a secure and efficient way to support families and manage financial commitments back home.
Eurobank’s move aligns with India’s broader push to internationalize UPI, following similar partnerships in countries like Singapore, UAE, and Nepal, reinforcing UPI’s role as a global digital payments standard.
The launch of this service underlines the growing importance of fintech-driven solutions in bridging communities and enhancing bilateral economic ties between India and Greece.
