JAMMU: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has launched the e-auction of seven limestone mineral blocks, marking a significant step in harnessing the Union Territory’s mineral resources for industrial growth. The auction process, conducted through a transparent digital platform, covers an area of 314 hectares across districts including Anantnag, Rajouri, and Poonch.
Officials stated that the identified limestone deposits are critical for cement manufacturing, construction, and other industrial applications. The initiative is expected to attract major investments, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to the overall economic development of the region.
The Department of Geology and Mining has emphasised that the auction will be conducted in a fair and competitive manner, ensuring maximum participation from stakeholders. The move is aligned with the government’s broader vision of promoting sustainable resource management and boosting industrial infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
By opening up these mineral blocks for commercial exploitation, the administration aims to strengthen the local economy, enhance revenue generation, and position J&K as a hub for mineral-based industries.
