Union Minister Giriraj Singh has said that the spirit of ‘Vocal for Local’ and the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ have significantly strengthened India’s handloom sector. He emphasized that these initiatives have empowered artisans, boosted domestic production, and enhanced the global recognition of Indian handloom products.
Speaking at an event, Singh noted that the government’s policies have encouraged self-reliance and created new opportunities for traditional weavers. He highlighted that the handloom industry, which is deeply rooted in India’s cultural heritage, has witnessed renewed demand due to the promotion of indigenous products.
The Minister underlined that the sector not only supports rural livelihoods but also contributes to sustainable development by preserving eco-friendly practices. He said that the government’s push for local manufacturing and self-reliance has provided artisans with better market access and improved income security.
Giriraj Singh added that initiatives under Atmanirbhar Bharat have helped revive traditional crafts, making them competitive in both domestic and international markets. He stressed that continued support and awareness will further strengthen the handloom sector, ensuring its role as a pillar of India’s economic and cultural identity.
