Washington, D.C., November 1, 2025 — The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) has called on U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance to engage with Hinduism, following his recent remarks about his wife Usha’s faith and his own spiritual journey.
Vance, speaking at a public event, shared that his wife encouraged him to reconnect with Christianity. He added that he hopes she may one day be moved by the same faith. The comments sparked criticism from interfaith advocates and Hindu organizations.
In response, HAF issued a statement urging Vance to reciprocate the openness shown by his wife and explore Hinduism with the same curiosity and respect. “If your wife inspired you to re-engage with your faith, why not show the same interest in hers?” the group asked.
