Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will lay the foundation stone for the Advanced Air Combat Aircraft (AAMCA) programme facility in Andhra Pradesh today, May 15, 2026. The facility is a key step in India’s indigenous defence manufacturing push under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aimed at developing next-generation stealth fighter aircraft.
The AAMCA programme represents India’s most ambitious aerospace project, focusing on advanced stealth, supercruise capability, and cutting-edge avionics. The new facility in Andhra Pradesh will serve as the central hub for design, testing, and production, strengthening India’s self-reliance in defence technology.
Officials stated that the foundation ceremony will mark the beginning of infrastructure development for the programme, with collaborations expected between DRDO, HAL, and private industry partners. The project is also seen as a boost to local employment and regional industrial growth.
