NEW DELHI, Nov 27: Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive in India on a two-day official visit beginning December 4, marking a significant diplomatic engagement between New Delhi and Moscow amid evolving global geopolitical dynamics.
According to official sources, President Putin will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on defence cooperation, energy partnerships, trade expansion, and regional security matters, including developments in Afghanistan and the Indo-Pacific.
The visit is expected to include discussions on strengthening strategic collaboration in nuclear energy, space technology, and long-term crude oil supply agreements. Both sides may also review progress made under the India–Russia Intergovernmental Commission and explore new avenues for economic cooperation.
Officials said the two leaders are likely to deliberate on enhancing rupee-ruble trade mechanisms to ease payment challenges faced by businesses following global sanctions on Russia.
This will be President Putin’s first visit to India since 2021, and holds particular significance as both countries aim to reaffirm their strategic partnership amid shifting global alliances.
A joint statement is expected at the conclusion of the visit, along with possible announcements on new bilateral agreements.
