Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will visit the United Kingdom from June 25–27, 2026, for high-level talks with UK Business Secretary Peter Kyle and industry leaders, ahead of the July 15 implementation of the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Double Contribution Convention (DCC).
The visit will focus on finalizing regulatory, customs, and administrative mechanisms to ensure smooth rollout of tariff cuts, market access, and professional mobility. Both sides are expected to review readiness for tariff liberalisation, streamline customs coordination, and operationalise the DCC to eliminate dual social security payments for temporary workers.
During the visit, Goyal will address the India Global Forum on “Capital, Innovation and the UK-India Moment,” meet executives from HSBC and Rolls-Royce to discuss investment and manufacturing partnerships, and participate in sessions hosted by the UK-India Business Council and Asia House.
The India–UK CETA, set to take effect on July 15, 2026, covers goods, services, digital trade, intellectual property, procurement, sustainability, and SME support. The DCC will ease professional mobility by reducing costs for Indian workers in the UK.
Officials highlight that the agreements will strengthen India’s role in global supply chains, expand opportunities for exporters, and support India’s long-term vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 by deepening economic ties with the UK.
