Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has reviewed the country’s military preparedness amid escalating tensions with Iran. The review was conducted in consultation with Army Chief Eyal Zamir, following Zamir’s recent visit to Washington where he held high-level talks with U.S. defense officials.
According to official sources, the Defence Minister emphasized the need for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to remain ready for all possible scenarios, including potential U.S. military action against Iran. Katz noted that the regional situation required vigilance and close coordination with allies.
Army Chief Eyal Zamir recently met with U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine and senior Pentagon officials to discuss regional security challenges. The meetings focused on joint preparedness, intelligence sharing, and contingency planning in the event of heightened conflict with Iran.
Parallel discussions were also held by Israel’s military intelligence chief Shlomi Binder, underscoring the depth of bilateral cooperation between Israel and the United States. Officials highlighted that the talks were aimed at strengthening operational coordination and ensuring readiness for rapid response.
The review comes against the backdrop of rising tensions between Iran and Western powers. The European Union recently designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terror group, prompting Tehran to retaliate by labeling European armies as “terror groups.” This exchange has further strained diplomatic relations.
Meanwhile, the United States has increased its military presence in the Middle East, deploying the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and conducting joint exercises with B-52 bombers. Analysts believe these moves are intended to deter Iranian aggression and reassure regional allies.
Israeli officials have warned that Iran may intensify proxy activities in Lebanon, Syria, or Gaza, raising the risk of a wider regional confrontation. The Defence Minister’s review is seen as a proactive measure to ensure that Israel’s military remains prepared for any escalation.
