Commissioner Secretary IT Saurabh Bhagat chaired a comprehensive review of JaKeGA initiatives in Srinagar on July 14, 2026, emphasizing the need for a stronger digital governance framework in Jammu & Kashmir.
The review focused on modernization of the JK State Data Centre, consolidation of departmental centres, and adoption of a uniform Software Development Policy to ensure sustainability and eliminate duplication.
Bhagat directed the establishment of JKSDC as the sole Government Data Centre with world-class infrastructure, alongside a roadmap for Cyber Security Disaster Recovery and resilient IP telephony.
He called for creation of a Centre of Excellence in Jammu dedicated to cybersecurity, AI, innovation, and startup incubation, to foster technological growth and youth opportunities.
Expansion of Digital Village Centres and integration of government services with WhatsApp were highlighted to enhance citizen convenience and rural digital access.
eOffice implementation was praised for reaching Tehsil and Block levels, with Deputy Commissioners instructed to ensure transparent, efficient, and paperless governance.
Human resource issues within JaKeGA were reviewed, with directions to resolve pending matters and expedite online registration for the Chief Minister’s Internship Programme to maximize student participation.
The Commissioner Secretary concluded by stressing that these initiatives will strengthen digital governance, improve service delivery, and position Jammu & Kashmir as a leader in citizen-centric digital transformation.
