Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today performed the sacred Pratham Puja at the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine, marking the ceremonial beginning of the annual pilgrimage. The puja, conducted at the holy cave, is a traditional ritual symbolizing the formal commencement of preparations for the yatra, which draws lakhs of devotees from across the country.
LG Sinha prayed for peace, prosperity, and harmony in the Union Territory, emphasizing that the Amarnath Yatra is not only a spiritual journey but also a reflection of societal unity and mutual trust. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring smooth arrangements, security, and eco-friendly measures for the upcoming pilgrimage.
Officials from the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board and senior government representatives accompanied the Lieutenant Governor during the puja. The event set a devotional tone ahead of the yatra, which is scheduled to begin on July 3, 2026, with extensive preparations already in place across the valley.
