New Delhi, June 6: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that 13 foreign nationals lost their lives in the Malviya Nagar fire tragedy, which struck the Flourish Stay B&B hotel earlier this week.
The victims included citizens from African nations, Central Asia, and Turkmenistan, underscoring the international impact of one of Delhi’s deadliest hotel fires in recent years.
MEA officials stated that they are coordinating with respective embassies to facilitate identification, repatriation of remains, and support for affected families.
The fire, which broke out on June 3, has already claimed over 20 lives, with dozens injured and hospitalized in critical condition. Rescue teams reported harrowing scenes as occupants attempted to escape from upper floors.
Authorities have arrested the hotel owner on charges of culpable homicide and safety violations, while investigations continue into illegal construction and lack of fire safety compliance.
The tragedy has prompted renewed calls for strict enforcement of fire safety norms in guesthouses and hotels across the capital.
