The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognizance of serious allegations of sexual harassment, rape, and forced religious conversion at a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) BPO unit in Nashik, Maharashtra.
The Commission has constituted a fact-finding committee which will conduct an on-site inquiry at the facility on April 17, 2026. The committee will interact with victims, police officials, and company representatives, and is expected to submit its report within 10 working days.
According to reports, multiple FIRs have been registered in connection with the allegations, sparking widespread outrage and raising concerns about workplace safety for women in the IT and BPO sectors.
The NCW’s intervention underscores its mandate to safeguard women’s rights and ensure accountability in cases of harassment, even in the absence of formal complaints.
