Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of construction of the new High Court complexes at Jammu (Raika) and Srinagar. The meeting was attended by senior officials and representatives of the National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd. (NBCC), the executing agency for the projects.
During the review, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of time-bound completion and directed departments to ensure seamless inter-departmental coordination to avoid delays. He stressed that administrative approvals for the Jammu wing at Raika must be expedited, noting that the complex is envisioned as a modern, integrated judicial hub equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
Omar Abdullah called for transparency, strict quality benchmarks, and regular monitoring mechanisms to track progress and resolve bottlenecks in fund flow and clearances. He underlined that the projects must reflect the highest standards of accountability and construction quality.
Highlighting the significance of these projects, the Chief Minister said the new complexes will strengthen judicial infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, improve accessibility for litigants, and provide better working conditions for lawyers and the judiciary. He added that modern IT-enabled courtrooms, chambers, and support services will help reduce case backlogs and enhance efficiency in justice delivery.
Reiterating his government’s commitment to strengthening the rule of law and judicial independence, Omar Abdullah assured that both Jammu and Srinagar wings will receive equitable facilities. He directed NBCC and concerned departments to maintain accountability and ensure that the projects are completed within the stipulated timeframe.
