Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is set to flag off the extended Srinagar–Katra Vande Bharat Express service, marking a significant boost to rail connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir. The extension aims to provide faster, more comfortable travel for passengers while strengthening regional integration.
The Vande Bharat Express, known for its semi-high-speed design and modern amenities, will now connect Srinagar directly with Katra, a major pilgrimage destination for devotees visiting the Vaishno Devi shrine. The service is expected to reduce travel time and enhance convenience for both tourists and local commuters.
Officials highlighted that the extension reflects the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring better accessibility to key religious and cultural centers. The move also aligns with Indian Railways’ broader vision of expanding Vande Bharat services across the country.
